The Film
31 teenagers • 3,600 miles • 1 epic summer
This is the true story of regular American teenagers drawn together in the summer of 1982, sharing the journey of a lifetime and being transformed in the process. These “Spokesmen of America” set out to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis and experienced a summer filled with intense challenges, humor, mishaps, personal discovery and tragedy.
The film is both a 4 part episodic documentary film (available on PBS and Outside TV) and a 2 hour Feature Film weaving deeply personal interviews, found footage and period photography of that life altering summer. With a refreshing realism and clarity. celebrates the unstoppable optimism of youth and how it resonates through the challenges of life.
